Lee Dama, whose legal name is Eliseu G. Dama, is the founder of Heart Mortgage and a licensed mortgage loan officer (NMLS #485039). He was born in Brazil and came to the United States at 19, with no money and no connections. Over more than twenty years in real estate and mortgage lending, he saw the same thing happen to immigrant families again and again: a process explained in a language they did not fully understand, by people who treated their mortgage as a file number.

In January 2021 he founded Heart Mortgage Corporation (NMLS #2045769) in Boca Raton, Florida, to be the broker he wished he had found when he arrived. As a broker rather than a lender, Heart Mortgage compares programs from multiple lenders and explains every document in the client’s own language. Today the company has a second office in Orlando, is licensed in ten states, and has 11 loan officers who work in English, Portuguese, Spanish and Taiwanese.

Lee still originates loans himself and personally reviews the situations that do not fit a standard program: families that file taxes with an ITIN, foreign nationals buying from abroad, self-employed borrowers, first-time buyers without U.S. credit history. He speaks English, Portuguese and Spanish.
